Parents should think twice before marrying their daughters off to such people, warns former collector

biju-prabhakar

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Thiruvananthapuram collector and social justice departmental secretary Biju Prabhakar IAS warned parents not to marry off their daughters to those who engage in moral policing. He warned parents through a Facebook post related to moral harassment against a woman at the Shangumukham beach on January 11, 2020. In a note congratulating the woman, he said when children are married off to such people, parents should understand that girls are more likely to experience harassment including sexual perversions etc.

Let me congratulate Sreelekshmi first. I congratulate her boldness to lodge a complaint at the police station on that night itself in protest against the incident faced when she went to the Shanghumugham beach at night. I soon informed the issue to city police commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhaya IPS. A case was registered at Valiyathura police station against seven people for hurling abuses at her and her friends on January 11. Four was arrested following the complaint. The names of the arrested are enclosed here.
