NEW DELHI: Historian Ramachandra Guha on Sunday came up with an explanation regarding his remark that the people of Kerala had committed a mistake by voting for Rahul Gandhi. Earlier, Guha had sparked a controversy by stating that Rahul Gandhi was not even a contender for Narendra Modi who made his way up through hard work.

Explaining his remark through his Twitter page Guha said, "Rahul Gandhi's lack of focus and administrative experience and, most importantly, his being a fifth-generation dynast are a great disadvantage for Rahul when it comes to winning General Elections. That said, it was patronizing of me to chastise Malayalis for sending him to Parliament. '

According to Guha, what he meant by his remark on Gandhi is the fact that voters would always prefer Modi to Rahul in case of a ‘Presidential’ style General Elections. He further added that he has always criticized the Hindutva politics and will continue to do so.
