THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Janathipathya Rashtreeya Sabha leader C K Janu has said that she is going to discontinue her party’s relationship with the Left and in the local self-governing body election, her party will contest independently.

“Neither the party nor the Adivasi community will get any benefit from cooperating with the Left. Even within the Front, we have to stand on our own legs,” she told Kerala Kaumudi.

LDF didn’t keep the promise

“A serious discussion is going on within the party to end the cooperation with the LDF. The LDF leader had asked us to support from outside; they offered to absorb us into the Front and give us all the rights and benefits of an ally. But they didn’t keep their word…”

Kanam’s move for merger

“We have held discussion with the chief minister, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and other leaders. Kanam Rajendran, at one point of discussion, demanded our party’s merger with the CPI but we were not ready for it. After that we didn’t get deserving support from him.”

Immediate solution is necessary

“However, the LDF government has some good things to Adivasi community but various land issues of Adivasi community are yet to be resolved. When the government boasts of Life Schemes, there are many adivasis who have no land.

The government is showing negligence in rehabilitation schemes. Even when the government talks about total electrification, there are Adivasi colonies at Balussery in Kozhikode, where there is no electricity. There are also unemployment issues among Adivasis.”
