THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan on Tuesday lashed out at Kerala Chief Minister's call for a second salary challenge amid the nationwide lockdown. According to Muraleedharan, government employees should not be forced to give up their entire salaries for one month especially at a time when people are facing financial difficulties. While stating that anyone can contribute to the CM's relief fund, Muraleedharan added that the Chief Minister should also consider the opinions of service organisations before going ahead with the salary challenge.

"No one should be forced or pressurized to contribute to the relief fund. The government must create an atmosphere where each one is free to make a contribution according to one's own capability or stay away from it. During the previous salary challenge, the government had even threatened to transfer those employees who stayed away from participating in the challenge." Muraleedharan said.
