Centre backs State govt: ‘Covid negative certificate must for expats’

negative-test

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central government has submitted in the high court that it has accepted the stand of the Kerala government that Covid negative certificate is a must for expats coming to Kerala in chartered flights.

The high court responded that the Centre should clarify the circumstance under which it accepted Kerala government’s stand. It also asked it to submit documents related to its stand.

The case will be considered again on Monday.

The State government’s uncompromising stand is that Covid negative certificate is mandatory for expats taking chartered flights to Kerala.

They should undergo at least Truenat test, leave alone PCR test.

The Centre clarified its stand in the court after the high court asked the Civil Aviation ministry to explain its stand.

Meanwhile, a batch of petitions against Kerala’s stand had come up for hearing in the Supreme Court but the court said that it would not interfere in the State government’s decision.
