COVID-19: Kerala reports 193 positive cases on Monday, 167 patients test negative

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala reported 193 COVID-19 cases on Monday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. Of the new cases, 93 persons returned from abroad and 65 came from other states. 35 persons contracted the virus through contact. In the wake of triple lockdown, the CM's media briefing was from his official residence.

The district-wise breakup of new cases:
Ernakulam-25, Thrissur-14, Palakkad-8, Malappuram-35, Thiruvananthapuram-7, Kollam-11, Alappuzha-15, Pathanamthitta-26, Kottayam-6, Idukki-6, Kozhikode-15, Kannur-11, Kasaragod-6, Wayanad-8.

Two more deaths were reported on Monday. 82-year-old Mohammed passed away in Manjeri Medical College while 66-year-old Yusuf died in Ernakulam Medical College.

167 coronavirus patients tested negative on Monday. The chief minister also stressed on the severity of COVID-19 in Thiruvananthapuram. The situation in the capital city is critical and more people are developing the disease through contact, he said.

61 persons developed the disease through contact. Among this, the source of several cases hasn't been identified. If not controlled, things may go out of hand. Positive cases were found in Poonthura, Valiyathura, Attukal, and Manacaud and these persons were shifted to COVID care centres, the CM added.
