THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A day after the Supreme Court upheld the rights of the Travancore royal family in the administration of Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple, Congress leader Oommen Chandy met the royal family members and assured them that the state government will take over the security of the temple as soon the UDF comes into power. Several Congress leaders accompanied Oommen Chandy to meet the royal family in the light of the SC verdict.

"If the UDF comes into power, the state government will definitely take over the security of the temple as it is the government's responsibility to provide security to the prestigious temple," Chandy said. While stating that the SC verdict is a relief not just for the royal family but for the whole of Thiruvananthapuram, VS Sivakumar MLA said that the state government is liable to provide security to the Padmanabhaswamy temple.
