Five more COVID-19 deaths, Malapppuram, Kasargod, Thrissur, Kottayam and Kozhikode natives succumb to deadly infection

MALAPPPURAM: Five more COVID-19 deaths in Kerala. Abdul Khader of Tirurangadi in Malappuram, Abdul Rehman of Kumbala in Kasargod and Varghese of Irinjalakuda in Thrissur are those dead of the virus. The death toll rose to five after patients that died in Kozhikode and Kottayam have been confirmed of the virus.


Khader (71) died at Manjeri Medical College Sunday early morning. He was a diabetic. He was confirmed of the virus on July 19. He was shifted to the ventilator on July 21 after his condition turned worse. His source of the infection is unknown.

Abdul Rehman (70) died of the virus at Kumbala in Kasargod. He was a heart patient. With this, five have died of the virus in the district. He died while undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College. He was under treatment at a private hospital in Kasargod following serious health issues.

Varghese (71) of Irinjalakuda in Thrissur was a retired KSEB employee. He was admitted in the hospital on July 18 after he contracted the disease. He died Sunday morning while undergoing treatment in the ICU. Varghese died at Thrissur Medical College. His wife and son have also contracted the disease. This was the third death reported today.

Ouseph George (82) who died on Friday at Kottayam Medical College was confirmed of the virus. A native of Chungam, he was bedridden for quite some time following a fall. This is the first COVID death in Kottayam.

Shahida who died in Kozhikode yesterday was also confirmed of the virus.
