THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Though the transmission of COVID-19 is severe in the district, the capital city will not be completely shut, said Mayor K Sreekumar. Once the lockdown ends, strict restrictions will continue in containment zones, he said.
The transmission of the disease has been reported in adivasi sectors also. When this situation persists, the complete lockdown implemented in the city will end tomorrow. The mayor said full closure will only be in coastal areas and cantonment zones where the triple lockdown is being implemented.
Triple lockdown will exist in places where transmission of the disease is high. Steps will be taken to prevent the transmission of the disease in the remaining places. The corporation has asked to avoid mass gathering and to go ahead by avoiding community transmission.
