NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has rejected the anticipatory bail petition moved by activist Rehana Fathima in a case in which she had gone half-naked and made her children paint pictures on her body.

In its initial examination of the case, the Supreme Court made the observation that her bizarre act came under the purview of sexual offences using children. The bail plea was dismissed after this conclusion made by a bench.

The Kerala police had filed a case after the video she posted on social media showed her lying half-naked on bed and her minor children painting colourful pictures on her body.

The case has been filed under Posco Act and IT Act. The Child Rights Commission had also filed a case against her.

The video posted under the title Body Arts And Politics had gone viral, inviting criticism as well as appreciation for her offensive act.

Rehana had earlier said that she didn’t fear any legal action in the name of going half-naked. She even said then that she had no plans to go for bail or go into hiding. However, she later approached the high court for anticipatory bail plea but didn’t get any respite from there.
