NIA tightens noose over gold smuggling case: retrieved digital evidence amounting 4000 GB

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NIA retrieved more digital evidence from the accused in the gold smuggling case. Digital data amounting 2000 GB was retrieved from mobile phones and laptops of Swapna Suresh and Sandeep alone and it also involves the images copied from their telegram and Whatsapp chats. In the wake of getting new evidence, NIA has filed a plea before the court to get the accused in NIA custody to question them further.

Wide disparities were noted in the testimonials of the accused after test results of their digital equipment was received. Other than Swapna and Sandeep Mohammed Shafi, Mohammed Ali Ibrahim, PM Mohammed Anwar were the other accused whose custody was sought by NIA for further questioning.
