SP Balasubrahmanyam final rites to be held with official honours on Saturday

CHENNAI: The mortal remains of legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who passed away on Friday afternoon, has been taken to his residence in Mahalingapuram here and kept for public showing by following COVID protocol. The body will also be kept for public homage at Sathyam Theatre on Saturday morning. The cremation of legendary will take place at SPB's farmhouse in Red Hills on the outskirts of Chennai on Saturday. The final rites will be held with full official honours extended by the Tamil Nadu State government.

Balasubrahmanyam was being treated at this private hospital since August 5th following his testing positive for coronavirus. His health state deteriorated and become critical by August 14. He was on ventilator support and underwent plasma therapy. Following this, on September 7, he tested negative for COVID-19.

SPB celebrated his wedding anniversary with his wife at the hospital while still being on ventilator support. His health became worse in the past days. The legendary singer passed away at 1 pm on Friday after suffering a heart attack.
