bar

KOTTAYAM: Recent reports claim that Ramesh Chennithala was the kingpin behind the conspiracy against Kerala Congress(M) leader and then Finance Minister KM Mani in the bar bribery scam. This was discovered in the investigation held with the help of a private agency based in Kochi. The investigation report submitted by the agency stated that the then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was aware of this conspiracy.

The report also stated that Congress leaders Addor Prakash and Joseph Vazhakkan and other UDF leaders such as R Balakrishna Pillai and PC George were part of the conspiracy. Meanwhile, the UDF accused the Jose faction of Kerala Congress (M) of making the report public soon after it entered LDF. Joseph faction's general secretary Joy Abraham said that the report was made public by the Jose faction which wanted to hide its embarrassment of joining the same LDF that protested against KM Mani. However, Jose K Mani explained that this report was not official and the original report cannot be disclosed immediately.

As per the report, the I group conspired against Mani in order to destroy him and his party. A committee led by late CF Thomas MLA was appointed to investigate the case. Later, a private agency was given the responsibility to investigate the matter. The report was submitted on March 31, 2016.
