Three killed, one seriously injured in scooter-bike collision in Changanassery

KOTTAYAM: Three persons were killed in a scooter-bike collision at Valiyakulam in Changanassery. Jerin Johnny (19), a native of Kuttamperoor in Changanassery and a B.Com student of Rajagiri College in Ernakulam, Varghese Mathai alias Jose (69) of Malakunnam and his son-in-law Jinto Jose (37), a native of Vazhapally are those dead.

Kevin Francis (19), native of Vazhapally, pillion riding in Jerin Johnny’s bike has been admitted at Chethipuzha Hospital in Changanassry in a serious condition. The accident happened Saturday night at 10.30 pm.

Jinto and Jose were coming in their scooter from Thengana. This scooter collided with the bike of Jerin and Kevin coming from the opposite side. The locals and the police took the injured to the hospital. Both the bike and the scooter have been completely damaged.

Jerin Johnny died at 12 am. Jinto Jose and Jose died at 4.30 and 5.30 am Sunday morning.

The bodies of the three are kept in the mortuary of the medical college hospital. The bodies will be handed over to the relatives after COVID tests. The Changanassery police have registered a case.
