Street dog jumps in front of car; woman killed after car loses control and falls into lake

VYPIN: In a tragic incident, a car, carrying a couple, lost control and fell into the lake which resulted in the death of a woman. It is learnt that the driver lost control of the car as he tried to avoid hitting a street dog that jumped in front of the car. The deceased has been identified as Sabeena (35), wife of Kottappuram native TK Abdul Salam. The accident took place on Monday by around 10 pm on the Raktheshwari Beach Road.

Both Salam and Sabeena were returning from the beach when the dog suddenly jumped in front of the car. The car then went on to fall into the nearby lake and got 90 percent submerged. The road was deserted which delayed the rescue operation. Though Salam somehow managed to come out of the car with his wife, he was unable to hold on for long as the lake was deep. The two were later rushed to the hospital, but Sabeena was soon pronounced dead.
