THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central meteorological department in its latest weather alerts has warned the possibility of heavy rains in seven districts of Kerala, as the low-pressure belt formed in south-east coast would get transformed into a severe depression. “The southern districts which have been currently served with an orange alert will have red alert by December 3. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts will get red alerts on Thursday. An orange alert has been issued in Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts,” Central Meteorological Department said.
On December 3 and 4, Kerala will witness strong rains as it is when the depression transforms into a cyclonic storm. As sea will be violent on these days IMD has warned fishermen from venturing into the sea. After December 3, there is a possibility for another depression to emerge in the Bay of Bengal.
