Son of CPM candidate found shot dead in Palakkad

PALAKKAD: A youth who was under treatment for de-addiction has been found shot dead in his house. He has been identified as Ajith, a native of Pattanchery. He was 31. He is the son of Kalyanikutty, CPM candidate of tenth ward in Pattanchery panchayat in the local body polls.

The police have recovered the gun used for shooting. Initial reports said that it is a case of suicide. Police said the pistol belongs to his father Rajan. He was undergoing treatment at the de-addiction centre in Chittilencheri. He returned from the centre four days back.

His parents were not at home at the time of the incident. They were out for campaigning. He was found lying dead in the bedroom when they returned home. There were gun shots on his head. The Meenakshipuram police has registered a case and a probe has started. Palakkad DySP P Sashi Kumar visited the spot.
