THRISSUR: From Saturday onwards devotees are not allowed to enter into Guruvayoor temple premises. The decision comes in the wake of 22 staff of the temple testing positive for coronavirus. In the past two days, 46 persons were tested positive for covid 19 after antigen tests were conducted on the temple staff. 22 persons were tested positive for the pandemic on Friday alone. Devotees are banned from entering the temple for two days.

The ban will be also applicable in the popular customs of the temple like Tulabharam. Marriages inside the temple premises will be also banned in the meantime. But the marriages scheduled on Friday will be held. There will be no change in the puja proceedings inside the Sreekovil. Only negligible staff will be allowed inside the temple. The inner ring road and the temple premise have been made a restricted zone. Devaswom board has also decided to take the antigen tets of the devotees on a regular basis from next month onwards.
