KOZHIKODE: The Jamaat-e-Islami was not invited to the meeting of various organizations, religious leaders and important leaders of the district convened by the chief minister in connection the Kerala Paryadanam. They were excluded from the meeting attended by leaders of the E K-A P Sunni sect and representatives of organizations such as the MES and KNM. The chief minister’s move is believed to be in the wake of the Welfare Party, the political party of Jamaat-e-Islami aligning with the UDF in the local body polls. In the meanwhile, Samastha came forward in support of the exclusion of Jamaat-e-Islami. Despite the shortcomings, Samastha expressed satisfaction with the government and warned the UDF. They warned that they would oppose the election if joined hands with Jamaat-e-Islami.

The chief minister is seeking opinions by touring Kerala on what all should be included in the LDF's manifesto for the assembly elections. The meeting in Kozhikode was part of this. Nearly 120 people were invited to the meeting. Thamarassery Bishop Remigios Inchananiyil and Kozhikode Bishop Varghese Chakkalakal did not attend the meeting. They had informed the chief minister that being Sunday they will not be able to attend the meet as they have some urgent matters. Ministers E Chandrasekharan, A K Saseendran and T P Ramakrishnan are also attending the meeting.
