Elderly man, grandson die after ambulance hits scooter

KOTTARAKKARA: An elderly man and his grandson were killed after their scooter collided with an ambulance at Pooyappally near Federal bank. The deceased have been identified as Ummannoor native Manoharan (63) and his grandson Shyam (19).

The accident took place at around 6.45 am on Sunday when Manoharan's scooter, while attempting to overtake a bike, collided with an ambulance which came from the opposite direction. Manoharan died on the spot, while Shyam died on the way to the hospital. The scooter was completely destroyed. The accident occurred while Shyam was returning to his home at Nadakkal after spending two days at his grandfather's home. The bodies are currently kept at the mortuary.
