Dog jumps in front of auto, loses control and overturns, woman driver dies

VELIYANNUR: In a tragic incident, an auto carrying passengers lost control and overturned resulting in the death of the woman driver. She lost control of the vehicle after a dog jumped in front of the auto. The woman identified as Vijayamma (54), wife of Soman, has been driving the auto for the past six years at Uzhavoor Town Stand. The accident happened on the Veliyannur-Mangalathazham Road. She will be cremated later.

The accident happened when she was carrying two migrant labourers from Uzhavoor to Koothattukulam part. When she reached Padinjarepeedika, the dog jumped in front of her vehicle. Though she was rushed to the hospital, her life could not be saved. The passengers escaped without any injuries.

The auto which she bought through Kudumbasree loan met with the accident. She was the bread winner of the family. Her husband Soman, a painting labourer has no work. She has two daughters Shreeja and Shruthi. Sajin and Shal are her son-in-laws.
