CHANDIGARH: Amidst the ongoing farmers' protest, more than 60 villages in Haryana have banned the entry of leaders belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and alliance partner Jannayak Janata Party (JJP).

In Haryana, residents of a number of villages besides various khaps have passed resolutions calling for the boycott of BJP and JJP ministers and MLAs for supporting the new farm laws.

The BJP and JJP leaders have been facing protests for the last many weeks in Haryana.

Facing heat over the farmers' agitation, JJP leader and Haryana's Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi later today to possibly deliberate on issues related to the protest.

Reports suggest that some JJP MLAs are facing a lot of pressure from the agitating farmers. Chautala and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had yesterday assured that there is no threat to the BJP-JJP coalition government.

On January 10, hundreds of protesting farmers had indulged in violence at a 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' event near Karnal, just ahead of the arrival of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The event had to be cancelled.

Farmers had stormed into the venue of the event and broke through the barricades erected in front of the stage for security purpose, threw flower pots, chairs and tables placed on the stage.

Before ransacking the venue, the farmers, holding black flags, damaged the temporary helipad in Kaimla village where Khattar was scheduled to land. They had reached the helipad after breaking through six checkpoints set up by police.

The BJP had organised the 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' in order to apprise the farmers of the "benefits" of the three central farm laws.
