Major fire breaks out in Edayar industrial area

KOCHI: A major fire broke out in the Edayar industrial area in Ernakulam. The fire broke out in two companies manufacturing paint items and in the rubber recycling unit. The incident happened late last night. More than thirty fire force units reached the spot and doused the flames.

Preliminary reports said short circuit caused by lightning is the reason for the fire. The workers fled to safety seeing the fire. A major disaster was averted as the fire did not spread to the nearby oil company. Locals alleged that there was not enough security arrangements in the establishments that caught fire.
