Will consider inviting Pope to India; high priests of catholic church meets Prime Minister

NEW DELHI: The high priests of various catholic church factions in the country met Prime Minister. The cardinals after conducting talks with the Prime Minister said that PM will ensure justice on issues concerning the protection of minority rights. Cardinal Mar George Alancherry said that the church doesn’t follow a policy of untouchability with any political party.

Prime Minister’s talks with the cardinals of the catholic church come in the wake of his intervention over the church feud in Kerala. In the meet, the cardinals informed the Prime minister that Christian religious groups in the country are not getting their due rights including in issues like distribution of minority scholarships. The cardinals also said that no politics was discussed in the meeting with Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also said that inviting Pope to India could be considered after the Covid 19 situation is over. The issue of father Stanswamy was also discussed in the meet. However, the issue of love Jihad was not raised in the meet, the cardinals said. Mar Oswald Gracious, Mar George Alancherry and Mar Cleemis Catholica Bava are the cardinals who met with Prime Minister.
