congress

NEW DELHI: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday convened a special meeting for the Congress leaders in Kerala ahead of the assembly polls. While admitting that the party has suffered a setback in the state in the local body elections, Rahul demanded that corrective action should be taken against those setbacks in the Assembly elections.

Rahul Gandhi said that more newcomers should be given chance to contest in the Assembly elections. He also advised the Kerala leaders not to decide the candidates on the basis of groups and not to take personal interest in the selection of candidates. The party must have candidates who have the potential to win. The former Congress president also gave nod for senior leaders to contest in the elections as per High Command's direction.
