THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 6815 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 6219 persons developed the disease through contact including 447 cases without an identified source of infection. 91 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 58 health workers tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.
Two UK returnees tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. So far, 65 UK returnees have tested positive for COVID-19. Their samples have been sent to Pune NIV for further tests.
Meanwhile, 7364 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 69,691 active cases in the state.
The state confirmed 18 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 3524.

In the last 24 hours, 61,532 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 11.08.
No hotspots were declared on Wednesday and with the removal of 17, there are 405 hotspots in the state.
