Thiruvananthapuram: The government has expedited the process of salary revision for government employees. Finance Minister Thomas Isaacs said Wednesday that the pay revision for officials would be implemented before the election code of conduct is announced next month. The announcement was made by the finance minister in his reply to the budget debate.

The finance minister had earlier announced in the budget that the pay revision would be implemented in April. The opposition pointed out that the responsibility of this would fall on the next government. Meanwhile, the government has expedited the pay revision process after the Chief Electoral Officer hinted that there would be an election notification in February. The Finance Minister also announced an increase in pensions for cancer and AIDS patients.
