KOCHI: Speculation is rife that senior congress leader and former union minister Prof K V Thomas may join the LDF. Senior CPM leader M M Lawrence took a jibe at Thomas soon after the CPM welcomed his decision.
Lawrence said elections giving priority to the youth should be held. Instead of that, Thomas should not be given priority. A decision on Thomas should be taken after a great thinking. Thomas should think whether he should contest polls considering his age, he said.
If there are youths in Ernakulam with great winnability than K V Thomas, then they should be given importance. He should think whether it is right to contest again. Lawrence said Thomas took such a stand with the aim of putting pressure within the UDF ahead of the elections.
The party leadership has to take a final decision on the issue related to Thomas. Lawrence said that he cannot respond now on whether it would be good for the party if Thomas joins the LDF.
Amid speculations that Thomas may leave the UDF, he is on a move to reveal what the Congress has been doing to him for a long time. The former minister had decided to openly reveal the things in a press meet to be convened on January 23. It is believed that he took such a step for ignoring him at the congress meet held in Delhi for party discussions.
