COVID-19: Kerala reports 6960 new cases on Saturday; 6339 cases through contact, 23 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 6960 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 6339 persons developed the disease through contact including 499 cases without an identified source of infection. 73 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 49 health workers contracted the disease on Saturday.

1 UK returnee tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 69 UK returnees have tested positive for COVID-19.

5283 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 72,048 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 23 deaths due to the virus on Saturday with the toll rising to 3587.

In the last 24 hours, 61,066 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 11.40.

With the addition of 3 new regions and the removal of 3, there are 407 hotspots in the state.
