THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 6293 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5741 persons developed the disease through contact including 426 cases without an identified source of infection. 78 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 48 health workers contracted the disease on Tuesday.
One UK returnee developed the disease in the last 24 hours. So far, 71 UK returnees have tested positive for the virus.
5290 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 71,607 active cases in the state.
The state confirmed 19 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 3643.

In the last 24 hours, 60,315 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 10.43.
