COVID-19: Kerala reports 3254 new cases on Sunday; 2979 cases through contact, 15 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 3254 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 2979 persons developed the disease through contact including 166 cases without an identified source of infection. 88 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 21 health workers contracted the disease on Sunday.

4333 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 49,420 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 15 deaths due to the virus on Sunday with the toll rising to 4197.

In the last 24 hours, 62,769 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 5.18.

With the removal of 2 regions, there are 367 hotspots in the state.
