MUMBAI: The man, who had placed an explosives-laden SUV outside Mukesh Ambani's residence in Mumbai, has been caught on the CCTV. The man, wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is suspected to have parked the SUV with explosive gelatin sticks outside Mukesh Ambani's residence 'Antilia' in Mumbai in the last week of February.

Media has accessed the latest CCTV grab of the suspect, who is suspected to have parked the explosives-laden vehicle outside Mukesh Ambani's residence in Mumbai, is seen wearing a PPE kit. It is suspected that the man wore the PPE kit to hide his identity or any detail that might give him away.

A Scorpio, with 20 gelatin sticks inside, was found near Antilia, Ambani's high-rise residence in south Mumbai, on February 25. Police said the vehicle was stolen from Airoli-Mulund Bridge on February 18. The mystery deepened when Mansukh Hiren, the man who used the SUV before it was stolen, was found dead.

Around 2.5 kilograms of 20 gelatin sticks were found inside the Mahindra Scorpio SUV belonging to a Thane resident who was found dead last week in Thane creek. Other than the Gelatin sticks, a threat letter and few number plates were found inside the SUV.

Following the seizure of the vehicle, the officials from the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police scanned the CCTVs and zeroed-in on an Innova which was seen in the area during the time the SUV was left outside Mukesh Ambani's residence. The CCTV footage showed the man leaving the scene in the Innova after parking the SUV outside Antilia.

On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the case, a move that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said showed something was “fishy”.

A spokesperson of the NIA said in a brief statement that the anti-terror agency had taken over the probe following orders from the Union Home Ministry and was in the process of re-registering the case being investigated by Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and Crime Branch.

Besides the recovery of the vehicle, the central anti-terror agency will also probe the mysterious death of Mansukh Hiren.
