ALAPPUZHA: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac has responded to the ridicule of the Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala that he is the minister who has put the state in debt. ഠblivion is for the Leader of the Opposition, who has forgotten the time he ruled. The current allegation is childish, he said.

Isaac said per capita income was higher than the previous government and economic growth was higher.

"The Leader of the Opposition does not even know the basic principle of the budget. The cash balance is Rs 5,000 crore and the per capita debt is Rs 74,000 crore but the income is Rs 2.21 lakh. There are no pension arrears like in the UDF era", Isaac said,

The Finance Minister said that even after giving everything, there is a balance.

Earlier in the day, Ramesh Chennithala had scoffed at Isaac saying that he is the minister who had put the state in a debt trap. He had said that Pinarayi had denied the seat to Thomas Isaac this time because he had destroyed Kerala and reduced it to rubble.

At the same time, Isaac said that everything that Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his visit to Kerala was communal and that it would not be of value here, but that chanting of 'Swami Saranam' is part of faith and cannot be questioned.
