More restrictions likely to be imposed in the state, Chief Secretary's press meet at 6 pm

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Secretary will meet the press today in connection with the recent surge in COVID cases in Kerala. It is learnt that more restrictions are likely to be announced during the press meet. Earlier in the morning, a meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister during which it was decided to introduce more restrictions in the state. Only 50 to 100 people are allowed to attend public events. Admission to malls requires a negative certificate after RTPCR testing. Those who have taken two doses of the vaccine can enter malls.

Those who actively participated in the election process will be subjected to the COVID test. People belonging to the high-risk group such as COVID frontline workers, those living in areas where the disease is rapidly spreading, employees of the public transport sector who come in contact with a large number of people, those working in hospitality and tourism sectors, employees of shops and malls, those working in restaurants and markets, and delivery executives will be identified and subjected to COVID test.
