THRIKKAKKARA: Sanu Mohan, the accused in the Vaiga murder case, was brought to the Sreegokulam Harmony flat in Kangarappady on Tuesday for evidence collection. Though he appeared calm at the beginning of evidence collection, he felt totally exhausted after seeing some familiar faces in the flat. Many people including women and children had gathered near Sanu's flat to see him. Upon seeing them, Sanu folded his hands and remained silent for some time.

Police started collecting evidence from Sanu's flat from 11 am on Tuesday. Large security was arranged to prevent any protests from the people. Later, Sanu was taken to the area near the HMT company from where he had thrown his mobile away. However, the police were not able to find the mobile.

Following this, he was taken to the Muttar river. Sanu told the police that he had carried Vaiga's body into the river after reaching the area in a car. Sanu also demonstrated how he brought Vaiga to the location, carried her on his shoulders and threw her into the river.

The probe team is preparing to question Sanu and his wife Remya together because of the discrepancies in the statements. Dr AK Unmesh, the forensic surgeon of Kalamassery Medical College, who did the postmortem of Vaiga, was present at the meeting called by Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju at the Thrikkakara ACP office yesterday. Rajalakshmi from Kakkanad Regional Chemical Exam was also present at the meeting. Sanu will be taken to Coimbatore on Wednesday for collecting evidence.

Sanu Mohan did the interior work of a house near the Manjummal regulator cum bridge, from where he threw Vaiga's body into the river. He chose this location to dump Vaiga's body as he was familiar with the environment there.

Vaiga's phone found by Bihar native
On March 21, Sanu had abandoned two mobile phones near Kalamassery HMT on his way to Muttar river. The phone used by Vaiga was found by a security guard from Bihar. The police identified him after he turned on the phone. He has informed the police that he will return from Bihar soon.

Though Sanu had tried to sell his car in Coimbatore, they did not buy it due to suspicion. Later, he sold it to someone else, Then he depended on bus and trucks.
