THRIKKAKKARA: The investigation team has found that Sanu Mohan's statement that he had tried to commit suicide after killing his daughter was a lie. Police inspected the Rigo Hotel in which Sanu stayed when he was in Goa. Upon conducting an inspection at a medical shop from where Sanu claimed to have bought rat poison, the officials found that he had not bought any poison and that he had been lying about his suicide attempt. The evidence was collected by a police team under the leadership of Thrikkakkara CI Dhanapalan. According to Sanu, he had eaten poisonous biscuits mixed with alcohol at the hotel and later slashed his hand to commit suicide.
The investigating team had also found that Sanu had visited a casino named 'Casino Pride' in Panaji. Sanu had claimed that he had lost Rs 50,000 here in gambling while he was in hiding for two days. However, it became clear that he had spent Rs 25,000 here. Evidence collection in Goa was completed yesterday. Police will reach Murudeshwar with Sanu today. They will return to Kochi on Monday after completing evidence collection at Mookambika and Karwar.
Sanu had clear plans
According to the investigation team, Sanu Mohan had a clear plan for Vaiga's murder and beyond. Sanu reunited with his wife Remya's family, who had not been in touch for years, six months ago. He did not even inform his relatives about this. He did not even visit his mother. Meanwhile, he had visited the house of Remya's sister Rekha and her cousin's son Umesh several times.
Sanu had a close friendship with Rekha's husband Praveen. This connection has been in place since he arrived in Kochi from Pune five years ago. It is learnt that the two had sold a Volkswagen Polo car which was brought from Pune. According to the police, it was Praveen who had found the Kangarappady Harmony flat.
