THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Health Department has issued a new set of guidelines for COVID treatment. From now on, those with minor symptoms belonging to category A will also be subjected to the COVID test. They should be examined every 24- 48 hours. If they show more symptoms, they should be shifted to the next category and given better treatment.
The new guidelines clearly state the medication to be given according to the severity of the disease and their dosage. Patients with severe C-category conditions may be given medications such as Favipiravir and Ivermectin. Remdesivir should be given only to critically ill patients in need of oxygen. If required, plasma therapy can be given within seven days of infection.
