Govt adopts new discharge guidelines, negative certificate not needed for non-critical patients

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The health department has made changes in the discharge guidelines for Covid patients. The new decision of the state government is that a Covid negative certificate is not needed while discharging patients with no serious illness. Those with mild symptoms may be discharged three days after the symptoms subside. Presently the discharge was only if the antigen test turns negative.

Those with serious disease will be tested on the 14th day. Those discharged without testing should be home quarantined for a total of 17 days. Non-critical patients can be shifted to a primary care centre or in their homes.

The new discharge guidelines released has given importance to critically ill patients. The new guidelines have been released in the wake of Covid upsurge. This decision to keep the beds from overflowing will be implemented as soon as possible. The disease confirmed on 25,000 people have been continuously challenged by the health department.
