THRISSUR: The incident of stealing the crores worth money brought by a national party in Kerala for election purpose has made headlines in the last few days. Apart from the national party tag, no other details were available about the political outfit. Even in the police report about the incident, though details of the accused were given, no information was given about the political party. Meanwhile, CPM has also alleged that the money brought by BJP was stolen by its own workers. Now, Thrissur BJP president Advocate KK Aneesh Kumar has come to the forefront denying those allegations.

“BJP has earlier alleged that CPM has hatched a conspiracy to drag BJP into the controversy. Legal action will be sought against CPM for such malicious allegations. BJP always transfer its poll fund via bank accounts. Apart from these funds, the other expense for the polls is met by collecting money directly from the people. We have given records and documents of money collected for the election purpose to the poll panel,” Aneesh Kumar said.

Police said that the arrested persons are history sheeters known for stealing illegal black money. Police officials also added that the political ties of the accused will be only revealed after questioning them. The absconding accused were caught by police at Kakanad, Ernakulam on Monday early morning. Seven are directly involved in the case and the other two are mere helpers. The accident and the theft were organised by three men who are yet to be arrested. The other two are from Thalassery and Kannur. The Thalassery native is living at a home in Irinjalakuda on rent. Rs 10 lakh was given to one of the helpers, who joined them from Thrissur and the remaining amount was shared among others after reaching Kozhikode.

The FIR registered by police has also not revealed the details of the political party. The incident for the case happened on April 3rd early morning at 4 am on Kodakara national highway. The complainant, a Kozhikode native, in his plaint has said that Rs 25 lakh which was brought for purchasing land was stolen. It was in subsequent investigation that it was found the money was brought to the state by a national party to meet poll expenses.
