For the first time, a district in Kerala records more than 5000 daily cases; four districts record more than 3000 cases

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kozhikode district has recorded the highest number of COVID patients in the state today. As many as 5,515 people have been diagnosed with the virus in the district. This is the first time a district in Kerala is reporting over five thousand cases in a day. In the last two weeks, the number of active cases has increased by 255 percent in the state.

In Kozhikode district, 4820 people contracted the disease through contact. Two persons who returned from abroad and seven persons who returned from other states tested positive for the disease. The source of infection of 186 people is not clear. 19,663 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 1567 patients tested negative in the district on Tuesday.

Ernakulam district recorded the second-highest number of COVID cases on Tuesday. 4270 people have been diagnosed with the disease in the district. Malappuram and Thrissur districts also recorded more than 3000 cases in the last 24 hours.
