THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been alleged that the reason for the obstruction caused while registering for the Covid vaccine in Kerala through the CoWIN portal was misappropriation. Attempts to schedule the place and time of vaccination after registering through mobile were often hampered. Meanwhile, required vaccination centers in other states are showing vacant slots for vaccination. According to officials, there are 3.68 lakh doses of vaccine stock in the state. Many people have shared videos and screenshots of them trying to register online for vaccination. It is learnt that the authorities are telling people that the Centre was not providing the vaccine.
Allegation regarding misappropriation of online registration
The allegation of misappropriation of online registration is strong. It is alleged that the district program managers and DTP operators who control the CoWIN website are behind this. As per reports, they are trying to include their close ones for vaccination by blocking the timings of other people. This has even led to quarrels between authorities and those who came to get vaccinated.
Long wait
The vaccine was given yesterday in 1,200 government centers and 325 private hospitals. 477,770 doses of vaccine were in stock. The health department says it has enough vaccine. The number of people registering to be vaccinated is increasing every day due to the increasing number of patients.
Restrictions
Only those who got the time slot were allowed entry to the vaccination center at the Jimmy George Indoor Stadium yesterday due to overcrowding. Facilities were also provided for people to sit without queuing. People were admitted on time.
