Kerala clocks highest spike of 35,013 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 41 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 35,013 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. This is the highest single-day spike in Kerala. Among these, 32,474 persons developed the disease through contact, including 2167 cases without an identified source of infection. 275 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 97 health workers contracted the disease on Wednesday.

15,505 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 2,66,646 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 41 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 5211.

1,38,190 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 25.34.

With the addition of 11 new regions and the removal of 2, there are 597 hotspots in the state.
