THRISSUR: A major turning point in the Kodakara election fund theft case as the police recovered the stolen money. The money was seized from the house of the ninth accused. 23 lakh and 3 sovereign gold were recovered. The money will be handed over to the court.
The complaint received was that Rs 25 lakh was lost. The move was to bring money from Kozhikode to Ernakulam. The police had revealed that Rashid, the complainant driver's aide, had leaked the information that the money was being taken away. The driver was accompanied by an assistant so that he would not be alone.
Police found that the man had then informed the robbers exactly where the vehicle was going. Apart from Rashid, the main accused Ranjit Ali is yet to be arrested. The investigation is being carried out by three teams led by Chalakudy DySP. Dharmarajan, a businessman who is believed to have given the money in the incident, was questioned but the source of the money was not clear.
At the same time, state president K Surendran said the BJP has nothing to do with the Kodakara money laundering case. Legal action will be taken against any attempt to defame the BJP for election fund theft. The election fund was spent digitally by the BJP. It wasn't spent as currency anywhere. Surendran said that the police investigation should be carried out efficiently.
