THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The registration for the Covid vaccine for those above 18 years of age started yesterday but it ran into trouble due to a portal malfunction. At the same time there was no impediment to registration in other states. Although the health department claims that the problem with the portal has been fixed, only a few have registered. Many did not receive OTP. Registration is done through Arogya Sethu App, www.cowin.gov.in and www.umang.gov.in.

Those who have registered will be vaccinated in the third phase of vaccination, which starts on May 1. Vaccination of 18- to 44-year-olds is likely to be delayed. The central government provides 50 percent of the vaccine provided by companies to the states. The Center has also directed that the vaccine be given only to priority groups.

The remaining 50 percent of the vaccine is provided by companies to states and private hospitals. It should be used to vaccinate people between the ages of 18 and 44. Under the current circumstances, the companies say, states and private hospitals will not be able to vaccinate until May 15. In this case, it is known that people between the ages of 18 and 44 will not receive the vaccine until May 15.
