THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has revised the guidelines for Covid vaccination. The new guideline will give priority to those waiting for the second dose of vaccine. Such people no longer need to register online. They can do spot registration from now on.

According to the new guidelines, preference will be given to those who are six to eight weeks after receiving the first dose of Covishield and four to six weeks after receiving the first dose of Covaxin. The vaccine will be given through spot allotment. The guideline also states that there will be a separate queue for the elderly and the disabled. Slots for online booking will be given only after they have been vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 80 lakh people between the ages of 18 and 45 registered in the first three hours of opening the registrations in the Cowin portal for this age group. Vaccination for them will start from May 1. But officials said the availability of slots would depend on the state government and private hospitals. Government sources said that if the slots are not available now, people should try again patiently.
