Kerala reduces RTPCR test cost to Rs 500

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: RTPCR test cost has been reduced in Kerala. The rate has been reduced from Rs 1,700 to Rs 500.

There was a widespread outcry against private labs charging Rs 1,700 for tests that cost less than Rs 600. Kerala had the highest RTPCR test rate in India. The lowest fare is in Odisha- Rs 400. After Kerala, the highest rate in Tamil Nadu is Rs 1,200; The rate when the sample is collected from home ranges between Rs 1500-1750. In Delhi and Karnataka, the fare is Rs 800. This is Rs 1200 when collected at home.
