KOTTAYAM: When counting is complete for five rounds, sitting MLA of Poonjar P C George is not able to advance. LDF’s Sebastian Kulathunkal is far ahead with 4,365 votes. P C who was initially in third place has now come back to the second spot. The LDF’s majority which reached up to 5,000 in the initial rounds has now been reduced to 4,000.
Latest updates show that counting in those areas where P C George has significant influence is going on.
George, founder of Kerala Janapaksham is contesting in Poonjar independently for the second time. P C George who is representing Poonjar for the last 40 years, won with the highest majority in 2016, he defeated Georgekutty Augustine of Kerala Congress at that time. It was his first victory without the support of either of the fronts in the state.
