highcourt

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday lauded the state government for reducing the RTPCR testing rate. The government was praised by the court in a petition filed by many including Shafi Parambil seeking a reduction in the testing rate.

The government had reported in the court that an order has been issued informing to have reduced the rates. The court settled the pleas. The court said they have received many complaints asserting that private hospitals are charging high fees for Covid treatment. The court observed that it is a very serious issue. The court said hospitals are charging the price of two PPE kits in a day from each patient. The court asked them not to charge like this in the name of every reason. Justice Devan Ramachandran, who considered the case, observed that private hospitals were not following government's order in this regard. The court asked the government to bring in a policy to address the issue.
