Babu garnered votes using Ayyappa’s name; CPM to approach high court

KOCHI: CPM is gearing up to approach the high court questioning the victory of UDF’s K Babu from Tripunithura. CPM has alleged that K Babu has violated the model code of conduct. CPM leaders in Tripunithura say that K Babu has garnered votes using the name of Lord Ayappa.

CPM is also planning to bring the issue of leaving 1,700 postal votes uncounted before the high court. The party is planning to approach the high court against the poll panel’s verdict declaring K Babu as the winning candidate.

The poll battle in Tripunithura, which was uncertain until the last moment, K Babu won with a marginal lead. CPM leaders say that they will present the speeches and poll campaign boards put by Babu in which Ayyapan’s name was mentioned.
