Controversy erupted after volunteers in Seva Bharathi uniforms inspected vehicles with state police in the wake of Covid. Fathima Thahiliya, national vice-president of the Muslim Students Federation, is one among many to criticize this. Sharing the picture of them inspecting the vehicle with the police, the MSF vice-president said, "This picture shows that it was RSS that retained power in Kerala".

Persons in Seva Bharathi uniforms along with policemen inspected the vehicle at Kadangode, Palakkad. Police had sought the help of volunteers. Organizations, including DYFI activists, volunteered. Seva Bharathi activists arrived wearing uniforms bearing the organization's name.

This then became a matter of controversy. Congress leader and MLA-elect T Siddique had come out against the incident. Siddique said in a Facebook post that the police should not be assisted by organizations by sharing power and Kerala is not North India.
